Betty Arlene Copeland
Betty Arlene Copeland, 78, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 1, 2017. She was born in Barry County, MO on Sunday, February 19, 1939 to Walden William Buchanan and Ruby Savage.
Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved Him, His church, His people and her family and friends. Betty was an active member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church and loved God’s Word and exploring God’s wondrous creations. Throughout her life, she actively volunteered in countless youth and adult activities, shining the light of Jesus into the world. She had a kind and caring word for everyone she met.
Betty married Ira Copeland on July 19, 1958. She worked at Dillard’s Department Store in Springfield for 30 years. Betty had an infectious smile and always a positive attitude throughout life’s trials and the good times. She enjoyed her home, her work, flowers, travel, live gospel music, stage plays, old friends and new friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Ulias Buchanan and her nephews Kenny and Ricky Buchanan.
She leaves in this life her husband, her two daughters Daphne Boyts (husband Andy) and Stephne Neff of Springfield, MO, one brother Carl Buchanan (wife Patty) of Cassville, MO, one sister Shirley Buchanan of Overland Park, KS, her sister-in-law Anna May Buchanan of Bon Aqua, TN, three grandchildren, Curtis Jobe, Danielle Shadrach (husband Jeff) of Springfield, MO and Cory Jobe of Kansas City, MO and many other family, friends and her caring love in the hearts of hundreds.
A visitation will be from 2-3pm on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 2210 W. Republic Road, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Senior Pastor Chad Grayson officiating. Burial will take place at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens cemetery.
