Obituary for Hazel Ollson (Baker)

Hazel Ollson (Baker)
Hazel Edith Ollson, 97, entered heaven on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, with family by her side. She was born November 24, 1919, on the rural, family homestead seven miles east of Pender, Nebraska. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Albert M. and Mary E. (Potter) Baker.
Hazel graduated from Central Bible Institute (Central Bible College) in 1944. In her senior year she met a handsome student, Clarence W. Ollson. They were married on December 15, 1945. Six days later the missions department of the Assemblies of God appointed them as missionaries to Venezuela. Their 18-year missionary journey included ministry in Cuba, Venezuela and Argentina.
Hazel graduated from Modesto Junior College, Health Occupations department as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. This milestone was very meaningful to her, as she practiced nursing for 20 years and retired from Modesto City Hospital. Hazel dearly loved God, her family and caring for people.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, son Danny Ollson, her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter Marge Smith, grandsons Aaron (Lori) of Joplin, MO, great-grandson Shepard, and Josh Smith of Springfield, MO, her sons Ken Ollson (Sue) of Harrison, AR, and Paul Ollson (Vicki) of Modesto, CA, grandsons Matthew and Timothy Ollson, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel at Maranatha Village, followed by a celebration of her life at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
