Obituary for Charles Noel Rogers

Charles N. “Noel” Rogers, 97, of Rogersville, Missouri, died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016. He was born in Nixa, Missouri on February 1, 1919, son of Perry and Arizona (Jones) Rogers. Noel and Edith Smith were married in 1942.

Noel enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 15, 1942. He honorably served in Europe during World War II. As a Crew Chief and Maintenance Supervisor he oversaw the maintenance of all types of wartime aircraft. Noel was honorably discharged on October 22, 1945.

Noel returned to his wife and farming. He was a cattle and grass farmer up until his death. And he loved what he did. He was also an avid gardener and had a natural talent and green thumb. Noel grew much more than he could use and was known for sharing his vegetables with family and friends.

Noel was also active in the Elm Grove Methodist Church for many years.

Noel is survived by his children, Wendal Rogers and his wife Ruth of Rogersville; his daughters, Carol Nancy Palmer of Springfield and Elizabeth Ann Orr and her husband Matthew of Huntsville, Alabama; his grandchildren, Allen Rogers and wife Pauline, Amanda Fairbanks and her husband Michael, Penny Evans and her husband Scott, Michael Orr and his wife Tina and Jessica Pierce and her husband Chris; 11 great grandchildren and his sister, Juanita Bunch.

Noel was preceded in death by his wife Edith; his parents; 2 brothers, Harold and Ronald D. Rogers and 2 sisters, Hazel Flood and Linda Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Evans Road. Pastor Todd Staples will officiate. Pallbearers will be Allen Rogers, Scott Evans, Alan Roller, Jerry Green, Corky Waters and Darrell Smith.

Noel’s family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte’s Chapel, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, Missouri 65804.

Noel’s family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
