Jack Tyrill Black
Jack Tyrill Black, 91 of Springfield, was born January 26, 1925 in Chillicothe, MO to Charles and Nona Black. He passed away on August 24, 2016 at Magnolia Square in Springfield.
The family moved to Springfield when Jack was 17 years old. He graduated from Central High School in 1943 and joined the Army serving for 3 years. He married Geraldine Bartley July 17, 1949 and to this union two children were born. After retirement they moved to Horseshoe Bend, Ark. for 5 years returning to the Springfield and Nixa area for 25 years.
Jack was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, was a member of Red Oak Christian Church serving as Deacon and Elder, the Nixa Christian Church as Elder, the Civil Air Patrol, C.P.R. instructor, ambulance driver, Chaplin for N.A.R.F.E. association and a corporate pilot for the learning resource center of Red Oak.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; son, James Black and wife Meg; daughter, Joyce Lynn Black; grandsons, Justin Black and wife Emily, and Aaron Black; granddaughter, Michaela Black; great-granddaughter, Nona Josephine and a host of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm with service to follow at 2:00 pm in the Nixa Christian Church, 400 Northview Rd, Nixa, MO under the direction of Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens
