Obituary for
Donald Eugene Dillard
Donald E. Dillard, 76, of Springfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday July 26, 2016 with the love of his life by his side.
Don was born on June 17, 1940 to Margorie and L.E. Dillard in Springfield, MO.
Don and the love of his life Mildred, would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on Friday, July 29, 2016.
What an amazing man he was to everyone who was lucky to have known him, from his jokes, to playing Santa, Don partook in many things including; Gold Wing Road Riders Association, he served in the Marines, Army Reserves, was a Reserve Police Officer, had his Ham Radio License “N0WHY”, and worked at the Frisco Railroad.
Don was the Missouri State King one year and International runner up another year of Tops 0320. Don and Mildred both were members of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. They loved to travel especially their trips to Hawaii and Canada. Don knew no strangers. He was a giving man and if you needed anything he would make sure you had it. Don’s family was the light of his life and so very proud of his girls, their accomplishments and especially the grandbabies. Once you met Don and Millie you were considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two cousins and one nephew.
He is survived by his loving wife Mildred, 3 daughters; Cheryl Lawson (David), Lisa Kidwell (Charles), and Annette Hartsell (Randy) Grandchildren; Scotty (Gina), Amber (Shane), Trent, Angelia (Nick), Austin (Juliette), Heather, and Seth, Great-Grandchildren; Braden, Bryson, and Kaden, along with a multitude of extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Ebenezer Methodist Church at 3 o’clock P.M.
